For nearly 20 years, the Disneyland Resort horticulture team has donated and planted trees in Anaheim elementary schools on Arbor Day. I have been part of the Arbor Day tree plantings since 2014, when I became an arborist manager. This year, we planted two Chinese Elm trees at Loara Elementary.
The students helped me backfill the planting holes and we talked about the maintenance requirements of the trees for the years to come. I enjoy being part of these events because of the opportunity to teach the students about the tree planting process and the life cycles of the trees, as well as the benefits the trees provide the environment. I know they will be enjoyed by future generations!
