On October 8, Disneyland Resort President George A. Kalogridis announced the 2013-2014 Disneyland Resort Ambassador team, Sachiko White of Anaheim and Megan Navarette of Rancho Santa Margarita, in a ceremony fronting Sleeping Beauty Castle. White, a performer for special events and scripted shows at the Disneyland Resort, will join Navarette, a Youth Education Series facilitator and parade performer, to represent the Resort’s 23,000 cast members at charitable functions, special events, and cast member celebrations.
White and Navarette will spend a two-year term continuing a tradition started by Walt Disney in 1965 to help him handle the numerous requests he received for media interviews, public appearances, and hosting VIP guests. In addition, the pair will take the magic of the Resort into the community by acting as emissaries of goodwill at various events, such as visiting children at local hospitals with Disney characters. While the tradition started at Disneyland, today there are Ambassadors at every Disney Park around the world.
