Disneyland Resort, Angels Baseball and the Anaheim Ducks together received the 2014 National Philanthropy Day award for Outstanding Large Business for their combined work on Accelerate Change Together (ACT) Anaheim, a three-year and $3 million commitment to benefit underserved Anaheim youth through a highly collaborative effort. This year, $1.5 million in inaugural ACT Anaheim grants were given to 10 nonprofits, addressing gaps in services for more than 1,500 Anaheim youth.
National Philanthropy Day, which began in Orange County in 1986 and is now observed in hundreds of locations around the world, acknowledges the spectrum of services provided by the nonprofit community and recognizes the profound impact that philanthropy has on society. Each year on National Philanthropy Day, the Association of Fundraising Professionals honors individuals and groups who, through hard work and dedication, have enhanced philanthropy and their communities.
