“The Disneyland Resort Salutes the American Band” concert series celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, continuing the Resort’s commitment to investing in creativity through arts education. The concerts are performed by the Disneyland Band, and have provided musical education to more than 1.5 million Orange County second-graders in partnership with the Philharmonic Society of Orange County and the Friends of Arts Education at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts over the past three decades.
The performances, held in various venues across Orange County, teach students about the instruments in the band and how they work together, and include a special appearance by Mickey Mouse and his pals. Song selections include the “William Tell Overture,” “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” “Strike up the Band” and others designed to provide an introduction to the various classes of instruments and the history of the American Band.
