Million Dollar Dazzle

The Disneyland® Resort recently honored 60 years of community giving by completing the Million Dollar Dazzle program. Each month during our Diamond Celebration, the Million Dollar Dazzle Crew surprised one or more local nonprofits that are enriching the lives of children and families in our community with a $60,000 gift, totaling more than
$1 million!

August 26, 2016 (Anaheim, CA) – Project Access: Hermosa Village Family Resource Center
Project Access helps families, children, and seniors living in low-income housing communities achieve self-sufficiency and maximize their full potential by providing a variety of vital on-site services.  Their goal is to keep family members employed, children in schools, and seniors active.  Their $60,000 gift will support programs at Hermosa Village Family Resource Center in Anaheim, including health services, youth education, and employment services.

July 7, 2016 (Orange, CA) – RAD Camp: Summer Camp Fund
RAD Camp offers week-long summer camp experiences for children and adults with developmental disabilities.  Their $60,000 gift will provide increased opportunities for individuals to participate in the camp experience.

June 23, 2016 (Anaheim, CA) – Taller San Jose Hope Builders: Amigo Scholarships for Anaheim Youth
Taller San Jose Hope Builders empowers disconnected young people with the job training and life skills needed to move out of poverty and achieve enduring personal and professional success.  Their $60,000 gift will support Amigo Scholarships, providing mentoring and life skills training, job and education readiness coaching, and employment placement support for Anaheim youth in danger of not reaching their full potential.

June 8, 2016 (Long Beach, CA) – Aquarium of the Pacific: Aquarium Scholarship Fund
The Aquarium of the Pacific provides science and environmental education to approximately 200,000 students, teachers, and community members each year, of which approximately two-thirds are from underserved local schools.  Their $60,000 gift will support the Aquarium Scholarship Fund, providing Southern California students of all backgrounds the opportunity to visit the Aquarium and experience marine education first-hand.

May 31, 2016 (Santa Ana, CA) – Orangewood Foundation: Mentor Program
Orangewood Foundation provides life-changing prevention and intervention programs for abused and neglected children, young adults, and at-risk families to end the cycle of child abuse. Their $60,000 gift will support Orangewood Foundation’s Mentor Program connecting foster youth with caring adult volunteer mentors, allowing them to engage in healthy relationships with adults.

May 18, 2016 (San Bernardino, CA) Children’s Fund: Endowment Scholarships
Children’s Fund’s mission is to ensure that at-risk children who are abused, neglected, impoverished or abandoned receive adequate food, shelter, clothing, medical care, education and equal opportunity for social development. Their $60,000 gift will support Children’s Fund’s Endowment Scholarships, providing foster care students the opportunity for a college education.

April 22, 2016 (Laguna Beach, CA) — Pacific Marine Mammal Center:  Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Release Program
The Pacific Marine Mammal Center rescues, rehabilitates and releases marine mammals stranded on beaches along the Orange County Coast. Their $60,000 gift will support the rehabilitation of 20 sea lion pups, and inspire ocean stewardship through research, education and collaboration. 

March 22, 2016 (Costa Mesa, CA) — Segerstrom Center for the Arts :  Disney Musicals in Schools
Segerstrom Center for the Arts has a long history of providing arts education to address the needs of students throughout Southern California. Their Million Dollar Dazzle Gift will support the Disney Musicals in Schools Program, which provides four Orange County elementary schools a teaching artist for 17 weeks to help produce a theater program for students allowing them to immerse themselves in beloved Disney stories. 

February 25, 2016 (Huntington Beach, CA) – Kristie’s Foundation:  Family Support Events
Kristie’s Foundation is dedicated to providing cherished moments and end-of-life care to critically ill children, and support for the family who loves them. Their Million Dollar Dazzle gift supports events for families to spend time together outside the hospital and build relationships with other families going through similar circumstances, while getting to know Kristie’s compassionate staff and volunteers. 

January 26, 2016 (Anaheim, CA) – ACT Anaheim: Professional Development & Capacity Building
The Accelerate Change Together Anaheim (ACT Anaheim) grant initiative addresses gaps in service for underserved Anaheim youth. It is focused on building the ability of the nonprofit sector to engage youth and parents in programs that strengthen families and communities. Their Million Dollar Dazzle gift supports the nonprofit leaders serving youth through ACT Anaheim with professional development opportunities that will help advance each organization.

December 10, 2015 (Orange, CA) – Providence Speech and Hearing Center: More Than Words
Providence Speech and Hearing Center is the leading service provider to the speech and hearing impaired of Orange County whose mission is to enrich life through the gift of speech and hearing. Their Million Dollar Dazzle gift supports the More Than Words parent education program, which gives parents and caregivers of children with Autism practical tools to help their children communicate. 

December 8, 2015 (Fullerton, CA) – Family Support Network: Camp TLC
Family Support Network seeks to improve the lives of children with special needs by providing services and resources to help them reach their full potential. The Million Dollar Dazzle gift to Family Support Network supports Camp TLC, a unique camp for families who have a child with a disability that provides activities and programming to bring families together. 

November 12, 2015 (Santa Ana, CA) – Habitat for Humanity of Orange County: Veterans Build
Habitat for Humanity of Orange County is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live. Their Million Dollar Dazzle gift supports a veteran’s home-build in Orange County. 

October 10, 2015 (Costa Mesa, CA) – Project Hope Alliance: Bright Start Program
Project Hope Alliance is working to end the cycle of homelessness one child at a time through programs that lift needful families up from homelessness and eliminate obstacles that prevent homeless children from attending and excelling in school. Their Million Dollar Dazzle gift supports the Bright Start program that focuses on children in kindergarten through 3rd grade who require additional assistance in reading, math and science. This new program will bring each child a structured learning experience that includes internet access and laptops for learning, the mentorship and loving support of a caring volunteer, and it will empower parents with skills and strategies to best meet the needs these early learners.  

September 19, 2015 (Newport Beach, CA) – Literacy Project Foundation: Literacy Program
The Literacy Project Foundation works to increase the reading skill levels of at-risk and disadvantaged youth, helping them become self-sufficient and productive. This gift supports their literacy program that is provided to many Orange County schools at no cost to K-6 grades. Through this work, Literacy Project Foundation is giving children the chance to visualize what the world has to offer, building their dreams into realities, creating avid readers for a lifetime…one child at a time.

August 22, 2015 (Garden Grove, CA) – Community Action Partnership of Orange County: Family Resource Centers
Community Action Partnership of Orange County works to enhance the quality of life in Orange County by eliminating and preventing the causes and effects of poverty. Their gift supports the Family Resources Centers that work to strengthen families and the communities that surround them by providing an environment that helps families become safe and stable. The Family Resource Centers work with community leaders to provide services that build healthy and strong communities including homework help, afterschool activities and services designed to help families reach self-sufficiency.

July 17, 2015 (Irvine, CA) – Girl Scouts of Orange County: Comadres Program
Girl Scouts of Orange County builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Their gift supports the Comadres program aimed at providing Latina girls with opportunities to learn about healthy living, financial literacy, and STEM. The program also is designed to give volunteers in low-income communities the tools and support they need to have sustainable and successful Girl Scout troops, helping the Girl Scout experience transcend language and
cultural barriers.
