Girls Incorporated of Orange County inspires girls, ages 4½ to 18, to be strong, smart, and bold by providing year-round programming focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math). Last month, at the organization’s annual luncheon, Mary Niven, vice president of Disney California Adventure park, was honored with the organization’s “Bold” award, where she spoke about the five-year process of reimagining Disney California Adventure park.
Niven told the audience, which included many young women, “Surround yourself with great people who are different from you, and have different backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. If everyone looks alike, thinks alike and has all the same past experiences, you will move quickly, but most likely miss something.” Disneyland Resort provided Girls Inc. a $10,000 donation as part of the event.
