The Disneyland Resort presented a $50,000 grant to the Orange County Conservation Corps to launch a pilot program in which a two-mile section of the Anaheim-Barber City (ABC) flood control channel will be cleaned of graffiti and debris. The program, initiated by the Disneyland Resort in cooperation with Orange County Public Works and the City of Anaheim, makes the Disneyland Resort the first organization to adopt a flood control channel, similar to Caltrans’ Adopt-a-Highway program.
The grant is being used to fund routine cleaning performed by members of the Orange County Conservation Corps, which serves young, at-risk adults through employment, training and educational programs. Results will be used to inspire other organizations to adopt sections of the channel that leads to the ocean through Anaheim, Stanton, Garden Grove, Westminster, Huntington Beach, and Seal Beach.
