On Feb. 2, a new state-of-the-art tower at CHOC Children’s was dedicated with the help of a $5 million donation from the Disneyland Resort. As part of the donation, Disney Imagineers incorporated stylized “Finding Nemo” elements into the tower’s lobby, including a mobile that is 18 feet in diameter and hangs above the lobby, a large mural, and a Turtle Talk with Crush exhibit similar to the attraction in Disney California Adventure park. Soon, patients will be able to interact in real time with the Disney•Pixar character, Crush, through a virtual, animated show twice daily.
In addition, the Disneyland Resort produced an interactive orientation called the CHOC Showcase that helped employees of CHOC Children’s learn about the tower’s new services and offerings in a fun and entertaining way. The CHOC Showcase was modeled after the multimedia Cast Showcase that the Disneyland Resort created for its cast members prior to the Grand Reopening of Disney California Adventure park. The live, walk-thru experience educated, informed and inspired thousands of the hospital’s physicians, associates and volunteers about the physical and cultural transformation of the hospital.
