For the first time, the annual CHOC Walk in the Park kicked off in the newly reimagined Disney California Adventure park, as more than 16,000 participants representing about 850 teams raised nearly $2 million for health care programs, education and research at CHOC Children’s. Since it began 22 years ago, the CHOC Walk in the Park has raised nearly $21 million.
This year, the Disneyland Resort offered a one-night stay in the Disneyland Dream Suite for any cast member raising $5,000 or more. Ticket Services cast member Bill Weeks, a former kindergarten teacher, raised more than $6,000 as the Resort’s top individual fundraiser. Weeks plans to donate the prize in memory of a former student, who received exemplary care while being treated at CHOC Children’s.
