Dear Friends and Community Partners,
Five years ago, the Disneyland Resort announced the second-largest expansion since the gates first opened in 1955. On the verge of its completion, it excites me to think the next chapter in our story is about to unfold. But we couldn’t have done it without you, our valuable partners in the community.
As the Disneyland Resort continues to grow, adding over 2,000 jobs over the past several years, so too does the responsibility as the largest employer in Orange County to serve as a leader in Corporate Citizenship. We do this by providing a safe and inclusive workplace for our cast, and through community involvement and environmental efforts. Since the earliest days of our company, Walt Disney instilled a tradition of quality, service and stewardship, a legacy that we proudly maintain through our relationships with our cast, our guests and the community.
From building community playgrounds with partners like KaBOOM! to fostering learning in classrooms through CREATE Grants; and from instilling environmental stewardship with children from the Boys & Girls Club, to celebrating the dedication of our military – our commitment to making memories goes well beyond our park walls.
On behalf of the 22,000 cast members who work and live in the community – thank you for being part of our family and letting us be a part of yours. As I look back at our community efforts in 2011, I can’t help but also look forward at all the great work ahead! As Walt Disney once said, “We’re just getting started!”
